One year old

It’s been a year since parenthood became my full-time job.

Honestly, most of it has been a blur. Everybody tells me this is normal, so I shouldn’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything. Still, I’m thankful we’ve managed to capture some photos and videos from the past 12 months. It’s somewhat shocking to see how much he’s grown and developed.

I’m also thankful we’ve settled into a rhythm of things to do, because it provides some semblance of order where chaos is the special of any given day. Give him some breakfast early in the morning, drop him off at the babysitter before work. Pick him up after work and keep him entertained and active enough in the late afternoon and early evening, until it’s time for his bath, final bottle, and bed.

I do know that this rhythm is apt to change at any given time, particularly when the kid begins to develop his own tastes. For example, he really likes walking around the neighborhood, which means we push back the time to water the plants and the yard. He also likes being chased around, despite lacking expert coordination in his legs. He still has his favorite TV shows available on Netflix, so instant streaming is a blessing because it allows him to watch at any time.

And he still hiccups, on occasion.
