Fear the Crab

Sunday, 9/19: First pitch for the San Francisco Giants game against Milwaukee was for 13:05, and we had made prior arrangements to meet everybody at the Willie Mays plaza at 12:00. We caught the 10:27 Caltrain with a ton of Giants fans, so much that we really looked out of place. Particularly since I had Mariner gear.

The Kimberly and her family joined us for the game. In addition to being big Giants fans and watching an excellent day of baseball, she wanted to give us our belated wedding gift. A two-year delay is actually pretty good for The Kimberly, considering that she has been afflicted with a procrastination tapeworm ever since 1993. Although, I would argue that she just wanted to save on postage, since she’s also had a bad case of tightwad since she was born.

My first Major League Baseball game was everything I expected it to be. It was cool and slightly drizzly, but as the day progressed it got rather warm (Hello, San Francisco weather!). The stadium was expansive and it was pretty exciting to wander the levels and catch the views.

I also experienced a couple of great plays. Ryan Braun robbed a home-run from Cody Ross, and Jose Guillen served up a grand slam, both in just the first inning! Barry Zito pitched very well, and the Giants would go on to win 9-2. I really enjoyed the day, not only because I felt I got more than what I bargained for, but also because of the excellent company.

Lunch was a serving of famous garlic fries and a draught of Guinness. These fries were highly-recommended and I made it a top priority to secure some for my enjoyment. I also had a “home run hot dog” and plate of chili cheese fries, and by the end of the 9th inning I was very full, such that I didn’t need dinner later that night.

Took a walk down the Embarcadero after the game. I needed to burn off some of the big league calories I took in, and along the way The Pip pointed out the corporate headquarters of everything WordPress, AutoMattic. Without whose fine product we would not have this glorious collection of imaginary roach droppings you see here.
