GK Dreadnought, layered metal and gold

GK Dreadnought, work in progress

It took me several months to get to this point, but that’s only considering the time from the last update until this past weekend. In actuality, it takes less than one or two hours of “paint time” to get to this point, and much of that time is spent waiting for layers to dry.

I used the Citadel line of metallic paints. I don’t really have a preference for a particular brand, but I began the hobby with these as it is the same company that provides the models, and I don’t feel any particular urge to change.

Primed the Grey Knight Dreadnought. I use Duplicolor Sandable Primer because it sprays a nice even coat and is readily available at both hobby and automotive stores.

The next step will be to apply a basecoat of color.

Burn, baby, burn!

I had the sudden inspiration to build and paint a specialized Grey Knight Dreadnought, and thanks to a generous gift certificate I was able to at least acquire the model with minimal pocket change. While the previous Dreadnoughts I made were long-range shooty-shooty units (reach out and touch someone), this new model would take on a more intimate and personal approach.

Literally.

Old school Grey Knights

Finished another round of miniatures painting:

Grey Knight Terminators

Old School

These models are quite old; I can’t remember how many years ago I picked them up, but it may well be in terms of decades. The Terminators have gone through a dramatic change, if you remember the newer models pictured here.

I’m not sure if I can legally field this version in a legal game, because the #1 rule is “What you see is what you get” (hereafter acronym’d as WYSISYG). Grey Knight Terminators are supposed to have a melee weapon and a Storm Bolter, but that’s not what’s shown on the models. I don’t think many people would give me flak about it, though, since their armaments are equipped as standard and I’m not trying to add additional things.

I’ve been painting Games Workshop miniatures on and off during the recent couple of decades. It’s usually been a sporadic affair, casually shoved into the skein of my life whenever fancy took me. As expected, the results of such endeavors feature little worth displaying, particularly since I don’t consider myself to be qualified for competitive painting; no Golden Daemons or Slayer Swords for me.
