Fear the Crab

Today Maile and I took Titan to the dog park. It was a bit rainy and very humid, but it was enjoyable. Titan even ran around the park like an excitable dog, but it required me to act as something to chase. We didn’t stay that long because it was too hot and Titan was getting tired (or so we led ourselves to believe). I’d say an hour was the longest we spent there.

Had “breakfast” food for dinner: scrambled eggs, bacon, portuguese sausage and rice. It filled me up pretty decently, and I took an hour nap.

Today was payday. Nice timing, considering the extortionable amount of money I spent the past week. I still wish I had more hours, though.

Didn’t do too much today except pretend I was a mushroom. The temperature in my room kept that daydream to a minimum, however.

I ate at Stuart Anderson’s with my family and relatives. I had the whiskey NY steak with petite lobster tail and Texas shrimp. I couldn’t finish it all, what with the salad and Wagon Wheel appetizers. The leftovers will be tomorrow’s dinner. My mom and dad shared a prime rib combo with fried prawns (or something like that). My aunt and uncle used my dad’s coupon for a “dinner for two” consisting of prime rib and shrimp, with that chocolate cake that sinks to the bottom of your stomach. Maile also had the prime rib and fried prawns, if I remember correctly. What with so much prime rib, and my own plate overflowing with food, it’s hard to remember what everyone had.

I discovered something strange about the wireless internet card I bought yesterday. When I tried to run the PC card settings, it told me there were no drivers for it. It’s strange because according to Windows, I have four different drivers for the card. I tried checking online for any updates to the drivers, but I couldn’t find any in the places I looked (Windows update, ORiNOCO site). I will wait until school starts to talk to the IT department and see what they can do, otherwise I’ll contact tech support for answers. It looks like the first day of school will be a long one for me.

The inventory for the store was today, so much of my time was spent in preparation. There wasn’t much for me to do since most of the back rooms were already accounted for. I just had to check the displays for any merchandise that we still sold. There was another job that had to be done, that of logging all the sunglasses in the drawers so that the inventory people wouldn’t have to count them. That job was supposed to go to Lynn, but she’s a putz, and not to be trusted with assignments of high detail and meticulousness. Seeing as how I am probably the most anal retentive employee in the company, that task fell to me.

I discovered today that the classes I wanted to take in the fall were closed. Those last few seats were snatched up like the last calzone at Boston’s. Of the two classes I want to take, one has another section offered at the same time on the same day (I assume it’s held in different rooms), so that I foresee no problems with. Unfortunately, the second class has another section at 0745 hours. That in itself would not be so bad, but I would have to kill 3 or 4 hours before the next class. That’s a lot of time to spend at an accredited university. I think it will only serve to heighten my quirky insanity to extremes beyond mortal comprehension.

Some good news, though; I bought doughnuts for breakfast.

Today turned out to be another lazy day. We were supposed to go to the dog park, but the sky was cloudy and gray, and the temperature was at the right degree for lounging around. We did eventually step out of the house because we had to go to LCC to buy books for Maile’s upcoming semester. It’s odd how the price of books just keeps going up and up. $140 for 3 books! I think they jack up the price just for kicks.

I found out today that the Japanese have what they call “costume play.” Basically it’s a big dance party where everyone dresses up in costumes of video game, manga or anime characters. They have a costume contest, of course, but the main idea behind it is just to meet people and have a good time. I don’t know if there’s alcohol involved, but I suppose mixing alcohol and anime costumes could have some dangerous results.

I had a glass of water for breakfast, scrambled eggs and pancakes for lunch, and a hamburger macaroni casserole for dinner. For dessert I had a creamcheese poundcake that was very delicious!

There is a gecko living in my bedroom. I think it’s because of all the silverfish that wander about when I’m not looking.

Today was a lazy day. Didn’t do any work, didn’t do any chores, and I also didn’t waste my time doing anything recreational. About all I did do was watch Lord of the Rings on DVD. It was very difficult to separate the movie and the book, from my perspective. The fight scenes were very nice, and I can certainly see why the movie won four Academy Awards (Cinematography, Make-up, Music, and Visual Effects). However, I can also see why it didn’t win Best Picture or Best Actor/Actress. All-in-all, I’d say the movie is okay to watch, but I’m not going to buy it for keeps.

I also watched Kung-Pao at George’s house. I had no idea prior to this that they used an original kung-fu movie and spliced in new scenes. The movie is good for a few one-time laughs and inane silliness, but as with LotR, it’s not something I’ll own.

I ate a Quizno’s sub for dinner, but I couldn’t finish it. That’s what happens when you’ve imbibed 2 cans of soda 2 hours prior. Needless to say, all that junk food has made me even more lazy. I’ll probably turn in early tonight.

This dream seemed to be a mix of images all blended together. It first started with me spending time in jail, and I was on a work crew. Except I had a pair of needle-nosed pliers. I had to sit in the bed of a pickup truck with a bunch of hardened cons. Then the dream switched to that of a man running down the street eating a package of uncooked spaghetti, or linguine.

There was an image of me playing a solitaire game with actual cards, and a scene of me standing.. somewhere.. to do.. something.

None of it made any sense, and already I find it hard to remember details.

Now that I have my very own LiveJournal, I have no idea what to write about. That’s what is so fun about it, I suppose. Perhaps I should start with a provocative, witty saying that will set the standard to which this journal will live up to..

Perhaps not.

Kyrol was bemoaning his lack of initiative in buying $250 worth of cheese in 1994. There is no doubt in either of our minds that Kyrol would have pulled down $250,000 in today’s market. That is, if he abstained from eating it all.

In the end, he would have spent that money on cheap booze and cheaper hookers, so it’s probably for the best. A few days on the night train with male gigolos would drive anybody to depths of nicotine-induced ploymorphism.

If it seems like I don’t know what I’m talking about, you’re probably right.
